Tiago Gandra

Tiago Borges Ribeiro Gandra has a BSc in Oceanography, MSc in Oceanography and PhD in Geography from Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. He has been a professor at the Federal Institute of Science, Education and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) since 2010, teaching Geographical Information Systems (GIS), database management, cartography and remote sensing. He has been working with fisheries, marine biodiversity, territorial planning and integrated coastal management since 2003. He started studying Marine Spatial Planning in 2016, developing his PhD Thesis on a new methodological approach for MSP in Brazil.

Tiago has participated as an auxiliary instructor on BPiP course in Brazil (2017), along with Jan Kleine Büning, Marinez Scherer and Gonzalo Carneiro. He has participated at MSP Roadmap (IOC – UNESCO) training held in São Paulo in 2018. He was also an invited teacher at the MSP course in UFSC (2020 and 2021) and at Ocean Teachers Global Academy (IOC – UNESCO) MSP course in 2021.
