This Blue Capacity Development Hub facilitates the use of the open-source Blue Solutions training courses on:
- Ecosystem-based Marine Spatial Planning and Management (BPiP),
- Transformative Sustainable Blue Economy (SBE), and
- Wise and Effective Blue Leadership.
These trainings aim to foster capacities of decision makers and practitioners for them to successfully overcome competing economic activities as well as uncoordinated single sector approaches. They provide key ingredients to carry the opportunity for profound and positive change and to achieve healthy oceans for sustainable development.
The Blue Trainings help learn how to sail stormy seas and navigate through complex systems and challenges. With participatory and cutting-edge learning methods the highly adaptable trainings convey technical knowledge and core concepts but also facilitation methodologies and soft skills.
At the center of all trainings is the firm belief that we want to learn how to sail the seas with our head, hands and heart.
This Capacity Development Hub was created in the context of the Blue Solutions Initiative. Blue Solutions was a global project with a focus on the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources working closely with partner projects, regional organizations and countries through capacity development, global knowledge exchange and policy dialogue.
The three trainings available in this Capacity Building Hub, Blue Planning in Practice, Sustainable Blue Economy and Blue Leadership, were developed by Blue Solutions through consultation with leaders in each topic in order to develop the best possible product for you.
The Blue Solutions Initiative was implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), GRID-Arendal, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the UN Environment Progamme (UNEP) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) of the Federal Republic of Germany.
