Louise has been working on ocean protection and sustainable development for over 20 years. Her educational background is in natural science (BSc Biology, MSc Marine Environmental Protection), but during her career she has built interdisciplinary experience and expertise cutting across integrated ocean management. She has worked in the public, private and non-profit sectors in local, national and international contexts, and she has a lot of experience as a workshop facilitator and trainer, both online and in person.
Since 2019, she has been working at GRID-Arendal, supporting international processes and initiatives to improve ocean governance, integrated ocean management, and sustainable blue economy development. This has included supporting knowledge exchange and capacity building. Louise participated in a “train the trainers” event for the Blue Solutions initiative in 2017, and has since then used training materials from the Blue Planning in Practice course for teaching and capacity building in Spain, the USA, Sweden and Norway. She co-developed the Sustainable Blue Economy capacity building materials for Blue Solutions, and was a lead trainer for online SBE workshops in the East Asia Seas (COBSEA region), Namibia and Costa Rica.
