Jan Kleine Büning

Jan has been working with GIZ since 2011 in advisory and leading positions around the globe. Over the last years his core area of work has been Marine Spatial Planning. Together with colleagues he developed the Blue Planning in Practice Approach, the Blue Leadership Approach as well as further educational material. He has vast experience in providing trainings, facilitating groups, and supporting international policy dialogue.

His academic background is in Social Sciences, Environmental Politics and Psychology (MA). He also holds a postgraduate degree in International Development Cooperation from Humboldt University Berlin.

Jan believes that the change we want to see is first and foremost self-change. He is convinced that meaningful learning and personal development can only take place where people are encouraged to try out, to cooperate in diversity and to fail safe.
