Armelle Jung

Armelle has BSc in Marine Biology and Oceanography and MSc in Coastal & Marine Management from the University of Brest, France. She spent the early years of her career working for improving shark and rays ecology through tagging, genetics or behavioural approaches. Since 2011, she is an active member in European and international institutions for fisheries and conservation of marine life (STECF, IUCN, ICES). She has 25 years of experience in marine ecology and a strong field knowledge gathered by conducting collaborative projects in Asia, Western Africa and South America.

Since 2010, she has been working at Des Requins et Des Hommes, conducting research-action in coastal and fish ecology (mainly elasmobranchs), developing serious-games for stakeholders consultations sharing halieutic resources or working towards the implementation of European directives (Marine Strategy Framework, Habitat, Birds) in the CFP (Common Fisheries Policy).

Armelle has been a trainer in Blue Planning in Practice workshops in a wide range of countries such as Turkmenistan, Sao Tomé and Principe, Senegal, Namibia, Guinee, Madagascar or Algeria. She has also been involved in teaching Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) for IMBerSea and EGEL Master students. Additionally, Armelle has an active role in MSP debate in France and is a board member of Marseille-Calanques MPA.
