Blue Solutions: Orphan Plastics in Vietnam

Blue Solutions video about how TONTOTON addresses plastic pollution in Vietnam.
The Blue Solutions video series tells stories about how real people have tackled real problems. Plastic pollution is a major issue in the many coasts of Southeast Asia. While there is a market for recyclables, plastic that cannot be recycled – also dubbed “Orphan plastic” – aggregates in the ocean. Barak Ekshtein created an initiative called TONTOTON that addresses the issue by incentivizing companies to pay for the removal of plastic, while creating new income for marginalized communities. With the help of Mae Catibog, one of his employees, he explains how.
