The Blue Solutions video series tells stories about how real people have tackled real problems. The maritime sector plays a large part in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Large and smaller businesses rely heavily on the health of the coastal ecosystem. Therefore, creating a sustainable blue economy is a priority in the region. In addition, past social injustices continue to affect the indigenous population of the area. In an effort to address both issues at the same time, researchers at the University of Wollongong have partnered with the Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council. This video, from the perspective of one of the researchers, explains the lessons learned from the project, and how it has impacted their view on creating a Blue Future.
