Carla is an architect and urban planner, with a Master in Regional and Development Planning, and currently works as a technical advisor for GIZ under the project Cities Combating Plastic entering Marine Environment, based in India. Before joining GIZ India, she worked for four years with GIZ Brazil in coastal and marine spatial planning, including the promotion of the BPiP instruments to the national government.

Carla worked in Madagascar in the assessment of value chains for coastal products with the aim of preserving biodiversity and promoting alternative livelihoods for poverty alleviation, and in the Philippines with coastal resource management and climate change mitigation plans.
